I was at the protest and have done a bunch of searchings on news items written about Vancouver and the protests.

The world wide media seems to really be picking up on the real issues and why 60% of people in Vancouver oppose the Vancouver Olympics and think it’s a waste of money.

I’ve compiled some of the best from my internet searchings around, for those who are interested in what the world is hearing about us.

One of my favorite quotes of today from the news:

“As the protesters headed down the street, numerous bystanders started lining the curb, taking photographs, not unlike the torch relay”

The Angus Reid poll, released Thursday, found that a majority of those interviewed β€” 63 per cent β€” expect the Vancouver Games to run a deficit, and 83 per cent believe the Games are planned to benefit elite members of society.

Almost 60 per cent of respondents agreed with the statement that the Vancouver Olympics are a waste of money that could be used for more important things.

  1. How can anyone take you people seriously when you completely misquote this poll and basically pull bullshit out of your ass. Nowhere in this poll did 60% of Vancouverites answer that they did not want the games.

    Nowhere.

It’s obvious that Vancouverites are concerned about the cost and inconvenience of the games but the majority of them still believe that there “will be a positive impact”. You of course would not repeat that in your duplicitous blog.

If you want to write a piece on why you disagree with the games that’s fine by me but at least try to be fair with the facts. Youre as bad as the other websites that still use the outdated real estate figures from 2008 on their front page when they talk about the athletes village.

    • Hi,
Thanks for your feedback. In fact, the Vancouver Sun article does report that nearly 60% of Vancouver residents interviewed felt that the Olympics were a waste of money. Moreover, the Sun stated that “83 per cent believe the Games are planned to benefit elite members of society”. They did mention that despite these negative feelings towards the Olympics, the majority of Vancouverites support Canadian athletes themselves and are proud of them as Canadians.
But overall, sentiments toward the Olympics were unfavorable. I don’t see how our article misrepresents the poll.

  2. Notice how the “protestors” who did all the property damage were dressed mostly in black and had there heads and faces covered….hmmm wonder why that would be….smells like “agent provocateurs” or “staged” riots to put protestors in a bad light with the masses and get people to demand more security and crack downs.

On a side note…congrats on a great 1st show on truther girls radio!

Thanks for all your doing πŸ™‚
